Our Father

Our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 6:9–13) · c. 30

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name…

Read slowly

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

About this prayer

The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer Christ Himself taught His disciples. In the Rosary it opens the sequence after the Creed and begins each decade — anchoring Marian meditation in the words Jesus gave the Church.

When to pray
At the start of the Rosary and before each decade; throughout the day as Christ’s own prayer.
After you read
Pause on one petition — daily bread, forgiveness, deliverance — and bring it to God concretely.
